Sanford Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2021 is a stunning expression of the region’s terroir, showcasing the unique characteristics of the two estate vineyards. On the nose, this wine opens with a bouquet of red fruits and baking spices, including ripe raspberry, cherry, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The palate is equally impressive, with flavors of black cherry, pomegranate, and a hint of earthiness that adds complexity to the wine. Crafted by Sanford Winery, a pioneer in the Sta. Rita Hills appellation, this Pinot Noir is a true reflection of the winery’s dedication to sustainable farming practices and minimal intervention winemaking. The grapes were carefully handpicked and sorted before undergoing fermentation with native yeasts. The wine was then aged in French oak barrels for 10 months, adding a subtle layer of toasty vanilla and spice notes that complement the fruit-driven flavors.

The entry level 2021 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills comes from a mix of the Rinconada and Sanford & Benedict vineyards and spent 11 months in 27% new French oak. This ruby-hued effort gives up a gorgeous perfume of ripe raspberry and strawberry fruits as well as white flowers, spice, and a touch of chalky, mineral-like nuances. Medium-bodied, seamless, and balanced on the palate, it’s just a flat-out beautiful expression of Sta.
