Poderi Oddero Barbera d’Alba Superiore 2020
Oddero is a seventh-generation winemaking family in the village of La Morra that’s been making wine since the 18th century. This Barbera d’Alba is a perfect example of their winemaking style and it comes in at a fraction of the price of their Baroli bottlings. Coming from two plots of land in Castiglione Falletto and La Morra, these vines see south and southwest-facing vines that receive ample sunshine for ripening. Aging in used French oak casks of 50-60 hl rounds out this high-acidity grape varietal. Outstandingly fresh, with soft and ripe tannins, this Barbara shows fruit notes of blackberry, black plum, and cherry. Black pepper and licorice with a iron-like minerality enhance a palate with a long, extended finish.
