From a parcel of 80-year-old vines touching Chames-Chambertin, the 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Echézeaux is, as usual, Jouan’s finest village wine. Wafting from the glass with aromas of smoky plums, cassis, loamy soil and licorice, it’s medium to full-bodied, fleshy and richly structured, with good concentration and juicy acids.
