Description
Fattoria San Lorenzo Rosso Piceno 2020
Natalino’s entry level Rosso Piceno… another grand slam quality/price ration wine. Rosso Piceno DOC was established in 1968, making it one of the older DOC’s in Italy (the oldest being Vernaccia di San Gimignano in 1966). However, the wine’s history dates back to before the Roman settlement, and in fact the ‘Piceni’ were a population of people that gave the name ‘Piceno’ to the land. So needless to say… while somewhat unknown and new to the US market, Rosso Piceno is a very important and historic wine for Le Marche. The wine by law can have up to 15% of ‘other red approved varieties’, but in Natalino’s case, it is all the traditional blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese. Super pleasing and food friendly, this wine is a huge success for us as a by the glass selection.
