Description
Domaine Roumier Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru ‘Clos de la Bussiere’ 2021
Les Bussieres is a vineyard that resides right in between the villages of Chambolle Musigny and Morey Saint Denis. This unique placement brings the best of both villages into one wine—Chambolle elegance and Morey savoriness. The site is still surrounded by the original Cistercian wall built in the 12th century. Most of the fruit is destemmed and the juice is aged in barrels for over a year, 15% of which are new.
Georges Roumier is without a doubt one of the greats of the Burgundy wine world. While the domain began by selling their wine off, the practice eventually led to bottling the wines on site. This practice was a little ahead of its time, as most domaines didn’t typically do both. Current generation Christophe Roumier says it best with this quote: “We don’t make Pinot Noir; we make wines from terroir which expresses itself through Pinot Noir.” The family has holdings in several villages throughout both the Cote de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. Of all the Burgundy domaines, Roumier is consistently among the most elegant and complex.
