Domaine Faury Saint Joseph Vieilles Vignes 2018
This really oscillated between ripe, fresh fruit and more secondary, savory expressions. Bright purple, ripe fruit initially. Then the olive thing took over for a while after about an hour. There is some smoke, meat and pepper at times. The tannin is a bit green, slightly astringent. Like seed tannin. But then juicy and lively feeling. It’s more integrated and even on night two. I didn’t get the impression this was a deep vintage, meant for extended cellaring. Short term rest might help it calm down some. A nicely lively and complex wine for the money though. A strong value.
