Description
Benjamin Leroux Meursault 2021
The 2021 Meursault by Leroux has an animating nose with aromas of ripe citrus fruits, some vanilla and a delicate roasted note. There is a lot of pressure and tension on the palate, the long finish is balanced at a high level. This is the best winemaking, Meursault AOP, as it can hardly be better.
Benjamin Leroux’s Meursault AOC is blended from different vineyards in the municipality, including Criots, Sous la Velle, Millerands, Moulin Landin and Pellands from the lower slopes, and Bois de Blagny in the upper and cooler part the AOC, also known as Meursault-Blagny. It combines extract with finesse, the perfect combination of intense fruit, pressure, freshness and salty minerality is just as typical of the Meursault origin as it is of the Leroux wine style.
The fermentation takes place without the addition of cultured yeasts in order to give the greatest possible expression of the terroir and the vintage. The wine gets its finishing touches in wooden barrels between 300 and 600L capacity, in which the wine spends up to 18 months. The proportion of new barrels is moderate, i.e. around 15% are renewed every year.
