This wine definitely qualifies as the most elegant PATRIMONY Cabernet to date. The longer hanging on the vine provides a great tannin structure while maintaining Freshness. The nose is layered and complex, exploding with chocolate, cooked blackberries, violets, cedar and cigar box. On the palate, crushed stones give it a dimension rarely seen in a new world wine. The fruit is pure and potent yet very fine while being accompanied with a kaleidoscope of flavor ranging from blueberries, blackberries, dulce de leche and a touch of rose petal while having a very mineral and floral note. This wine will show its potential after it ages in the bottle for several years. With an immense structure, this will age and improve for decades.

Wine Enthusiast Review – Published 3/1/2020 – Rated 96:
Deep and darkly hued in the glass while rich and intense but still balanced on the nose, this luxury-level bottling by the Daou brothers begins with aromas of blackberry, wood spice, lilac, cola and char on the nose. Lavish, expertly polished tannins frame the sip, where rich flavors of cassis, toast and coffee extract are powerful yet refined. MATT KETTMANN
Tasting Panel Review – Published June 2021 – Rated 98:
Grainy tannins take hold as the dense liquid saturates the palate with pencil shavings, cocoa powder, and roasted coffee. Licorice coats the tongue as would a fine Sambuca, making for an unctuous and hedonistic experience. A profusion of blackberry preserves and a hint of coconut surface, connecting to the wine’s inner brawn before sweetening
and mollifying themselves on the exquisite finish.
Robert Parker Wine Advocate Review – Issue 31st Jan 2020 – Rated 98:
The 2016 Patrimony is made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 30 months in 100% new French oak. It has a deep purple-black color and explosive, unbelievably layered nose of lilacs, violets, vanilla, espresso, rooibos tea leaves, underbrush and cinnamon stick aromas mingling over a core of blueberry compote, blackberry pie, black cherry preserves and pure blackcurrant fruit with an undercurrent of iron and graphite. The medium to full-bodied palate gives up stunningly explosive flavor layers. It has an unbelievably ripe, pixelated frame and fantastic juiciness, finishing very long, lifted and layered. This is stunning. – Erin Brooks
